Back to Church Sunday - September 13, 2009
Salem invites you to come Sunday, September 13, to join us on a search to find God and make him a permanent part of our lives.

Our services are set as an experience where we can reconnect with God and draw on his strength to help us through each week.

We hope you will come and join us in worship and fellowship at 10:00 PM.

This day will also be the day that Salem moves into the future with its new closed in picnic shelter, the Gerald Jacoby Pavilion. Please come and be with us as we have a dedication of this new building to serve God and this community. The building will house programs for children and adults for both the church and the community. Come and enjoy the beautiful view as we sit there sharing time together in mutual support.

PA Deutsch Fersommling.

Welcome back. Hope everyone had a wonderful summer. Time goes by so quickly, especially in the summer. It always seems there are just not enough hours in the day for all we want to do during the warm summer days. This is just a reminder about the Pa. Deutsch Fersommling. Our first meeting will be Tuesday, September 8, at 7:00 PM. We will be opening our sessions on a very light note. I will be showing a movie that has just been purchased for the club. The title of the movie is "The Amish…Back Roads to Heaven". You do not want to miss this movie. It includes the Amish response to the Nickel Mines Tragedy. We will be discussion the future dates of the club also that night. Ich Guck aermschtlich dich tsu Sehne." "I look earnestly you to see."

FALL BIBLE STUDY
This fall, the Bible Study being offered is a study of the 10 Commandments. We all know what happens to one who falls off a building or some other great height. The law of gravity carries with it a severe penalty. It is one of the laws of nature. If you fall you get hurt. Unfortunately, some of us have to try to change nature only to find out that the laws of nature are true whether we want to believe them or not.
God's laws, the 10 Commandments are the same. We can ignore them and think we can change them, but they still will be true. These commandments were given to us for our protection not to take the fun out of life. In this study we will be looking at who these laws were for, do they still have meaning today and do we really understand them.
Click here to read all about it.
This Bible study is offered on:
Wednesdays at 1:30 PM, at Lehigh Center
Wednesdays at 3 PM, at the church
Thursdays at 7 PM, at 408 Mountain Village Drive, Macungie, PA

Children's Program

Kids of Character - This will be the theme of our children's program for this year. We will again offer a simple dinner, music, games and Bible Study. The children will be looking at the importance of building a fine character as a child that we will need throughout our lives. These classes will include how to get along with our family, how to act toward friends and grownups, there will be lessons on self esteem and talk about when mom and dad make me mad.

Adult Study Group

Living Free-This will be a time for us to look at and discuss those things that we let control our lives and how to take back control through the help of God. September 21 at 7:00 PM and will meet in the Gerald Jacoby Pavilion.

Salem Praise and Worship

"I will sing of your steadfast love, O Lord, forever,
With my mouth I will proclaim your faithfulness to all generations."

We want to extend this invitation for you to be part of our Praise and Worship Team. If interested, contact Pastor Sherry or myself (Ruth Houck). Come and join our Musical Team at Salem. We have an enjoyable time practicing and serving the Lord is wonderful and rewarding. Practice is the 2nd and 4th Sundays of each month after morning worship. We would like to expand this team to include vocal and instrumental talent. This would be wonderful and add to our worship.

In Song for Christ,

Preaching Series on the Beatitudes

Starting Sunday, September 27, we will be starting on a journey of following the healing choices our Lord laid out for us in the Sermon on the Mount.

The series will be a part of a program by Rick Warren and based on a book by John Baker. John asks us "Do you ever eat or drink more calories than your body needs? Do you ever feel you ought to exercise but don't? Do you ever know the right thing to do, but don't do it? Do you ever know something is wrong but do it anyway?" Well, welcome to humanity. All of us have some kind of 'hurt, hang-up or habit;' that we need to get rid of."

Let's join together for the next eight weeks and see what Jesus was trying to tell us during the Sermon on the Mount. Let us sit at his feet once again and listen to those lessons that were handed down through the ages.
